I’ve recently had a lot of feedback from our newsletters and what everyone enjoys the most is the variety of subjects in them. The three most popular are ‘What’s On’, ‘Information on Publishing’, and ‘Dream Decoding’. 

I am actually one of the very few fortunate individuals to be able to say I saw The Beatles live in concert. I was at Sydney Airport every time they touched down. If only I had known that one day I would become a publisher I could have got a Hay House agreement to them! I knew the words to Paperback Writer, I didn't know I could offer them an opportunity decades later.

I have always been a dog man. What amazed me about the two Airedale terriers in my life was that if the water board or electricity company came around to read their meters, or the postman came around to deliver a parcel, they would jump up, wag their tails and get excited.

Thomas Edison famously once said, "Success is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration". This applies very clearly to anyone who's about to embark on the journey of getting their book published.

Imagine if in the riddle of Humpty Dumpty, he had more balance While sitting on the wall, he would not have had the great fall. I've always thought Humpty's tale typified our desires to reach a state of equilibrium. We all seek calmness and a state of mind where we are able to make balanced judgements.

One of the joys of having movie channels on pay TV is that you get to watch, re-watch and watch again, some of your favourite movies. This week I got to see Pleasantville, a movie about repeating the same thing over and over again. 

We read books for many reasons: pleasure, entertainment and to acquire wisdom, to speak of a few. When it comes to the books that my colleagues and myself have published over the years, these books are read because people would like to "take a leaf out of our books".

In my last newsletter, I left you with the Rolling Stones and their message that we may not get what we want, but somehow we end up getting what we need.

I have always loved the term ‘in the loop’, it’s so inclusive. It gives you the feeling that you have a backstage pass or that you are a fly on the wall. With that in mind, that’s what I want to call our blog: In The Loop. From this point on, consider yourself a ‘Looper’.
